Dale Peterson, a man campaigning for Alabama Agriculture commissioner is the epitome of a bullshitter. In his most recent campaign ad he states " I've been a farmer, a business man, a cop, and a Marine during Vietnam, so listen up!". For someone running for Ag. commissioner it seems the only job that would be important to know about, would be farming. He also says that Ag. commissioner is one of the most powerful positions in Alabama, responsible for 5 billion dollars, then he claims the reason you didn't know that was because of " thugs and criminals", and says " if they can keep you in the dark, they can do whatever they want with all that money!" the relevance of that, is for lack of a better word, bullshit. There is no correlation between thugs, and the money that the Ag. commissioner is responsible for. Thugs and Criminals make there money by selling drugs and stolen property, not corn or livestock. Then at the end of his ad, he pulls out his Winchester repeater and says " were Republicans, we should be better than that.". The need to pull a gun out in a campaign ad should raise some suspicions about how bad he really wants to blow away the competition.

This is a great find! Perfect example. I especially love the close up of the horse face and the oddball insertion of a hunting rifle. What are the underlying messages in these images?
ReplyDeleteI would say he was trying to appeal to "rural" individuals.
